Rape Response Services


Rape Response Services offers the following free and confidential services for individuals of all ages, genders, races, ability levels, etc. in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties.

Crisis Intervention

RRS provides a confidential, 24-hour, toll free hotline staffed by trained volunteers who offer support to anyone affected by sexual violence. Information is provided about medical services, procedures involved in reporting and prosecuting the crime, mental health services, and how to support a victim/survivor.

Support Groups

Trained co-facilitators lead support/education groups free of charge for female or male survivors of rape, incest, and child sexual abuse.

Community Education

Programs are offered to organizations, clubs, churches, and businesses to increase public awareness and to promote an understanding of sexual assault issues.

Professional Trainings

Trainings are offered to law enforcement officers, church groups, medical personnel, mental health service providers, and many other groups of professionals working with individuals affected by sexual violence. Mandatory sexual harassment trainings for businesses are also offered.

School Based Education

Age appropriate classroom programs are offered to students K-12 and on college campuses, as well as on site drop in services. Faculty/staff workshops are also provided.

Community Sex Offender Notification

RRS participates on panels in collaboration with law enforcement and local government to assist communities with sex offender notification.
